Servers used for research purposes can be obtained through Engineering Technical Services (ETS). ETS offers a virtual server-on-demand environment for ASU’s research community, which is a cost effective and manageable solution. The model uses virtualization software, with virtual private server hosting features for either a UNIX or Windows server environment. With the capacity for large scale computing comes the capacity for generating large quantities of data. Whether from simulation or from instruments, managing large quantities of data is increasingly a core challenge of performing modern research. At the core of this problem is providing a robust, reliable repository for datasets.

The following two tiers of storage are available:

1) Tier One – Data is encrypted while transmitting on off campus network.

2) Tier Two – Data is encrypted while transmitting on off campus network.
