A2C2 offers a series of free advanced computing workshops that are presented to the A2C2 user community. This short series of workshops are aimed at current software developers on the system and anyone interested in a detailed overview of the system hardware, tools and utilities.
On Tuesday, March 12, 2013, A2C2 and Intel will co-sponsor an Advanced Computing training event for members of the A2C2 user community and the public – all are welcome to attend!
Highlights of the event will include an introductory discussion on technology directions being pursued by Intel, brief presentations by local ASU researchers, and advanced computing sessions for new and experienced users of A2C2′s resources facilitated by Intel and local HPC experts. The training event will close with a Q&A opportunity for A2C2 users.
In addition, a senior level engineer from Intel will be present to recruit upcoming ASU graduates with skills in high performance computing throughout the event. Intel Corporation is developing compute and fabric products for Exascale class HPC systems. The Intel Xeon Phi Product Family brings breakthrough parallel computing performance to scientific applications. In addition, Intel is also developing new, innovative HPC fabrics to deliver unprecedent high bandwidth/low latency communication capabilities for Exascale systems.
The Fabric Development Organization (FDO) within Intel Corporations Technical Computing Group is hiring multiple full time positions in the areas of HW design, validation, prototyping, SW development, performance analysis and modeling. The selected candidates will help FDO develop a state-of-the-art fabric technology for Exascale class scientific applications. We invite BS/MS/PhD students in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science to apply at the A2C2 + Intel Computing Workshop.
Stop by and introduce yourself – don’t forget your resume!

A2C2 has developed a series of software user group “brown bag sessions” aimed at facilitating the use of the system by leveraging the collective wisdom gained with each package. If you are a user of one of the below software packages, you are invited to attend this informal information session to share your thoughts, ideas, tips and tricks, and to learn from your fellow users.
Software Brown Bags
Gaussian Software User Group – Date TBD
Ansys Software User Group – Date TBD
VASP Software User Group – Date TBD
All sessions will take place in GWC Room 546 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Please feel free to bring your lunch.
If there is a software package that you would like to see a brown bag session scheduled for, please contact a2c2@asu.edu.
Free online courses in a variety of disciplines, including Computer Science (programming and software engineering), Mathematics, Biology and Life Sciences, Electrical and Materials Engineering, etc. are being offered by Coursera.
